CHINA ELIMINATED IN U23 ASIAN CUP GROUP STAGE

China have been eliminated from the U23 Asian Cup 2024 with one game to play in the group stage, after losing both the previous two matches.

Losing 0-1 to Japan on April 16 on 0-2 to South Korea on Thursday, China are now at the bottom of the group just like the UAE.

Japan and South Korea, both having won two matches and with a +3 goal difference, have secured tickets to advance to the next group. South Korea now top the group thanks to higher fair-play points.

The two will clash on April 22 to decide the top position, when China will meet the UAE.

The U23 Asian Cup, hosted in Qatar from April 15 to May 3, has 16 teams and is considered an Asian qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The top three teams will go to France and the fourth-placed team will face African team Guinea in a playoff for the remaining slot.
